I love the lyrics of Make History like:

Hey, you were made for something great, you got history to make…
So where ya wanna go? Who ya wanna be? Whatcha gonna do?
Whatcha gonna say? What’s it gonna be?
Everybody on your feet, you reach as high as you can dream…
So never stop imagining; don’t miss a beat, make history…”

Alyson will also be starring in the upcoming Disney Channel Movie “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” that premieres in September. You can keep up with her on Facebook, Youtube or at her website.

Ramona & Beezus Movie Starring Selena Gomez & Inspiration From Beverly Cleary

ramonabeezus2

ramonaandbeezusApril 12 is the birthday of beloved author and Newbery Award winner Beverly Cleary, and this year she celebrates her 94th birthday. Many schools also celebrate the day as “Drop Everything and Read Day” where students do just that – drop everything and curl up with a good book, something I like to do all the time.

When I was younger I loved the books by Ms. Cleary, like the Ramona Quimby books and Dear Mr. Henshaw. Ms. Cleary is one of the authors who inspired me to read and want to become a children’s author one day. She also has several books for teens you can check out, like The Luckiest Girl which I read and thought was a cute love story.

You can visit Beverly Cleary’s website at www.beverlycleary.com for more information about her life and her works. Have you read any of her books?

Beverly Cleary Tip for Young Writers and On the Love of Reading

Read widely. Master the tools of writing. I know that spelling, punctuation, and grammar are boring, but they are necessary.”

“I think I was fortunate in growing up before television and before many people even had radios, because my mother read aloud every evening to my father and me, and I was — I — I don’t know what I would’ve done in the evening if she hadn’t… She really read quite a variety of things, and I loved those evenings. I wish more people read aloud.

- Beverly Cleary (From her website)

This summer the movie Ramona & Beezus based Ms. Clearly’s books, will be in theaters starring Selena Gomez as older sister ‘Beezus’ and Joey King as the little sister ‘Ramona’ who always finds herself in a new and crazily imaginative situations. (Click here to read the book for free online; even though the book is aimed at kids you could probably relate with Beezus the older sister and it’s a pretty fun read for people of all ages).

wearetheworld25

wearetheworldclipTwenty-five years after Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie wrote and recorded the song “We Are the World”, celebrities gathered again recently to remake the song as a tribute for Haiti. Quincy Jones, Lionel Richie, Celine Dione, Wyclef Jean, Usher, the Jonas Brothers, Jordin Sparks, Jennifer Hudson, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, and many others lent their voices to recreate the song, which is now available at Itunes.com/WeAretheWorld. Visit the official website at http://wearetheworldfoundation.org to learn more.

The proceeds of the song will benefit the victims of the devastating earthquake. It’s great that they came together for this cause, to help the people in Haiti, and the stars talked about the feeling of unity and compassion they felt throughout the event. Below is the official recording of the song that premiered on Friday, February 12, before the Opening Ceremony of the Vancouver Winter Olympics. “I dreamed of being a Disney voice. I did not have the aspirations to be a princess like actively, but I just wanted to be a voice. So I didn’t care if I was a kitten or like a leaf or shoelace. I just wanted to be in a Disney movie so badly from when I was very, very little, I was very – I feel like Disney has sort of been the soundtrack to my life. I can remember points in my life in the movies that are with that time or a situation or how I felt in the theater. Fantasia was my first movie…”
