Are you ready for Mo’? Monique Coleman is preparing to launch her own online talk show for teens called Gimme Mo’, which premieres this fall. The show is aimed at inspiring young people and based on the clips Monique has posted so far it seems like it will be very upbeat and will touch on relatable issues:

Gimme Mo’ Show Description

GimmeMo’ is an online talk show launching in the fall of 2010. Actress Monique Coleman is hosting the show with the intention of empowering today’s youth. She will be facilitating safe conversation about real issues, bringing awareness to organizations that are serving teens, & conducting celebrity interviews. Each webisode centers around one compelling topic. Monique recognizes that the youth are constantly on the web, so she will meet them where they are and provide them with much needed positive content.

Monique is also busy working on a book called “From Ramen Noodles to the Red Carpet: A Guide to Becoming Who You Are Without Forgetting Who You Were.” She was quoted on Just Jared Jr. saying the book is “primarily for actors, but speaks to anyone who has ever felt alone or in need of support in a difficult career. Drawing from personal experience, I offer advice and address how to maintain a positive attitude and believe in your self when others may not.”

I believe that today’s youth want MOre…
I believe they deserve MOre….
Which is why I’m starting a MOvement!
It’s called the GimmeMo’ Movement…or simply GimmeMo’

MOre What?

MOre Information, MOre Support, MOre Knowledge, MOre Respect, MOre Awareness, MOre Challenges, and MOre Rewards.

The objective is to empower today’s youth by encouraging self awareness.

The youth are lazy because adults are lazy. We stand around waiting for someone else to make the first move or say the first word. This needs to change. Teens need to learn how to think outside the box, make informed decisions, question everything, and strive to define and reach their greatest potential.

I don’t want to impose anything upon them, rather inspire what is within them. Fear doesn’t work, it just creates a society of manipulators. In the age of Facebook, You Tube, Skype, and Twitter we can no longer rely on isolation or old fashioned censorship. We can’t pretend that rapid change isn’t happening. All we can do is grow with it.

I want to teach the youth how to be healthy, speak the truth, and take conscious steps to save and conserve the environment. I’ll encourage them to communicate effectively, but mostly I’ll give them support by listening intently to what they need.

I don’t believe we can control them nor should we try. We should instead nurture the youth as we would a garden. We must plant healthy seeds, water them, love them, and let them bloom.

I want to inspire teens who don’t want to be Oprah Winfrey, Zac Efron, Barack Obama, or Monique Coleman…..rather teens who want to be themselves, their best selves, and achieve things we may not even be able to conceive of…

Recently Dreamer ENT’s media partner the Valder Beebe Show chatted with Chelsea about the new season of JONAS L.A. that recently premiered. In the interview Chelsea talks about how she connects with her cast-mates, whether there’s a little real-life romance in air, balancing her career while staying grounded, and how the acting bug bit her at a young age.

Chelsea On Balancing Her Career & Home Life

“…I think for me I really got into it for the acting. I grew up doing theater and I moved up to L.A. to continue to act, not to kind of make a name for myself, and so I think as far as that goes I’m happiest when I’m on set not when I’m on a carpet.

“And I think as far as my parents and my grandma and my friends – most of my friends aren’t even in the business. They don’t care they don’t want to talk about it, they want to go to the movies or the beach, and talk about boys. I think that’s what keeps me grounded, it’s just kind of surrounding myself with people who could care less if I was on a TV show or not… It’s like, let’s talk about something else, let’s talk about something we can all relate to, and that’s really refreshing…”

On Doing What She Loves

“I love it. It feels great, I feel like I was just one of those kids that just always wanted to perform in some capacity. I was always singing and dancing around the house, and then I was finally old enough to audition for some community theater, that’s when I really got the bug. It’s kind of putting on a show and feeling that great energy from the audience, and it was so gratifying when it was over.

“Then I actually did the Broadway tour of Showboat and that was the first time I realized that people actually make a living out of it, and get paid to perform. That’s when I got really kind of obsessed with it and I begged my parents to let me pursue it. You know I’ve just been really lucky of course, but I also worked pretty much from the time I was 6-years-old to just be acting or singing or performing.”

Whose career would you like to model yours after?
I admire beautiful actresses who aren’t afraid to make fun of themselves and who are able to do a wide range of roles. People like Goldie Hawn, Debra Messing, Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, Sandra Bullock, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, Meg Ryan and Reese Witherspoon.

What was your favorite academic subject in school?
I actually liked math. I loved problem solving and it was my favorite subject until I hit high school and ran into a teacher that destroyed my interest in it. “One bad apple can spoil the whole bunch” was never truer.

What was your first paid acting gig?
My first paid job was in the national Broadway tour of “Showboat” and my first paid television commercial job was for Travelodge. The other girl that was cast with me happened to be Vanessa Hudgens! What a small world!

If you weren’t in entertainment, what would you do?
If I hadn’t followed the entertainment path, I think I might have gone into oceanography. We took a school field trip in sixth grade to the Catalina Island Marine Institute and I was fascinated. And some of my favorite family trips were to Sea World and different aquariums. I have always been interested in sea life.

How do you stay in shape?
It’s fortunate that I like healthy foods. Veggies and fruit and fish are my favorite things. But I also LOVE desserts and bread and pasta, so I try to exercise when I can. My main exercise is walking. I have a favorite 5 mile path that I walk at least 4-5 times a week. I also do sit-ups and push-ups, yoga and stretching. I love dance classes, but it’s difficult to make myself go at the end of a long work day.

What do you do to relax?
I love a hot bubble bath and a book! I’ve also been known to lay a blanket on the floor and put on headphones and turn off all the lights and just zone out to some great tunes.

Do you have any hobbies?
I love to travel, paint, write, take photographs and do scrapbooking projects.

What is your greatest strength?
Bouncing back. When things go wrong, I have a great ability to push it out of my head and stay focused on the task at hand and deal with it later.

What things do you want to improve on?
Not being such a perfectionist. I worry about a lot of tiny details that aren’t really important in the big picture. I would like to gain back some of the hours that I spend sweating about the small stuff.

What would you say to kids who want to get into the business?
My advice about getting into show business is to do everything you can – whether its school plays, community theater, talent shows, church choir or dance recitals – just find any opportunity to perform. I grew up doing musical theater in Arizona, and I can’t tell you how much having that experience and those credits on my resume helped when I decided to pursue this as a career. Theatre is so much fun, and you’ll learn blocking, timing, memorization and working with other actors plus find out quickly if this is something you truly love to do.

Justin Bieber and Jaden Smith recently collaborated their musical skills for the song “Never Say Never,” from the soundtrack of the upcoming movie The Karate Kid (in theaters June 11). The video features Justin singing and Jaden showing off his rapping skills, while scenes of Jaden in the movie are played throughout.

The song is motivating and talks about never giving up when obstacles get in your way. Justin tweeted to his fans recently about the video: “#NeverSayNever to believing in your dreams … u all make mine come true everyday…”

Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution produced by American Idol host Ryan Seacrest made a wave this season and is a great inspiration to start eating healthier. Jamie Oliver, chef and TV personality, is cooking up a food revolution in America – battling obesity and challenging schools to serve fresher meals. He did a similar show in his home country Britain and was able to change the way schools there serve lunch – with less processed foods and more natural foods.

Five teens from Virginia (pictured above), Brittany, Marisa, Robert, Brian, and Emily, also joined in on the revolution. In some of the episodes they helped to cook meals for their classmates and even for their senator and local community leaders to help raise funding that would bring change to the cafeteria. Along the way they talked their life experiences and how eating healthier means living longer and better.

April 12 is the birthday of beloved author and Newbery Award winner Beverly Cleary, and this year she celebrates her 94th birthday. Many schools also celebrate the day as “Drop Everything and Read Day” where students do just that – drop everything and curl up with a good book, something I like to do all the time.

When I was younger I loved the books by Ms. Cleary, like the Ramona Quimby books and Dear Mr. Henshaw. Ms. Cleary is one of the authors who inspired me to read and want to become a children’s author one day. She also has several books for teens you can check out, like The Luckiest Girl which I read and thought was a cute love story.

This summer the movie Ramona & Beezus based Ms. Clearly’s books, will be in theaters starring Selena Gomez as older sister ‘Beezus’ and Joey King as the little sister ‘Ramona’ who always finds herself in a new and crazily imaginative situations. 18-year-old Jason Dolley started following his dream of becoming an actor at a young age when he entered a school talent show. By 11-years-old he had made his film debut as the lead role in the award-winning short film “Chasing Daylight”. He later went in to star on major shows like Mel Gibson’s ABC comedy series “Complete Savages,” and made us laugh with his fun-loving character ‘Newt Livingston’ in Disney Channel’s original series “Cory in the House,” alongside Kyle Massey and Madison Pettis, as well as a number of other shows and films.

Now Jason is starring as PJ Duncan, older brother to baby Charlie in the Disney Channel Original Series “Good Luck Charlie” that premiered April 4. The series is about the Duncan family, who are still getting used to the “surprise” birth of their fourth child, Charlotte “Charlie” Duncan.

When their parents return to work, they ask their three older children—teenagers Teddy (played by Bridgit Mendler) and PJ (Jason’s role), and their ten-year-old brother, Gabe (Bradley Steven Perry)— for help raising their little sister. Teddy starts filming videos giving advice to Charlie about their life at home to give to her when she gets older and when Teddy leaves for college. The show definitely looks funny and like something the whole family would love. Jason on How He Stays Grounded:

Question: You have such an opportunity that many are envying in the world, they say “I wish I could be on that sitcom, I wish I could be on TV…” How are you going to keep your balance, how are you going to keep your perspective?

Jason Dolley: I think how I’m really fortunate in that area is I grew up in southern California, I lived in the same house that I was born in, which only half an hour to an hour away from town. So when I’m not working and I’m at home I’m where I grew up, I’m in my roots, you know I can hang out with friends who I grew up with and I can just feel like one of the guys and I think that and having an incredible family support that’s just been with me all the way has been really integral to keeping me grounded.

Jason currently lives in Los Angeles with his family, and according to his website he’s also an excellent student, maintaining a consistent 4.0 grade point average throughout high school. Now that’s impressive! Currently a college student, he enjoys playing his guitar and piano, video games, and paintball battles with his friends. Twenty-five years after Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie wrote and recorded the song “We Are the World”, celebrities gathered again recently to remake the song as a tribute for Haiti. Quincy Jones, Lionel Richie, Celine Dione, Wyclef Jean, Usher, the Jonas Brothers, Jordin Sparks, Jennifer Hudson, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, and many others lent their voices to recreate the song, which is now available at Itunes.com/WeAretheWorld. The proceeds of the song will benefit the victims of the devastating earthquake. It’s great that they came together for this cause, to help the people in Haiti, and the stars talked about the feeling of unity and compassion they felt throughout the event.
