Zoe’s Dolls: Zoe Overcomes Bullying and Empowers Girls To Love the Skin They’re In

zoesdollsnickawardsI love what Zoe Terry is doing to help instill confidence and self-love in girls. Her organization Zoe’s dolls gives African American dolls to children who may not have had a doll that looked like them. Zoe realized the importance of representation after she was bullied and she wanted to make sure other girls could stand tall and be proud in their complexion. Zoe has been featured in numerous outlets including Good Morning America and TED Talks.

Brainstorm: What’s a need in the community that you’re passionate about? How can you start your own organization or start collecting items to help others?

Today was beyond unbelievable! We kicked off our Black History Month Doll Giveaways. We started it in a BIG way! Good Morning America has came to film the Zoe’s Dolls Movement. It started out at my school where they filmed me going to class and hanging with some of my friends. They also filmed the awesome Karen Davis Athanassiadis and all the work she has done with me. Next stop was off to the doll giveaway with Me and my girls Essence and Zion to bring smiles to some girls’ faces! I will be in the studio live with Good Morning America in NY this month! I am beyond excited! @hasbro thank you for being a huge part of this! @goodmorningamerica thank you for thinking my vision is worth sharing! Thank you @mdcps_d2 for always supporting the mission from the start! Thank you @miami_country_day_school for being the best school ever! #zoesdolls #hasbro #goodmorningamerica #blackgirlmagic @bosszoe11

Dream Bigger: Motivational Entrepreneurship Workshops for Kids, Youth and Adults

It’s never too early or too late to dream bigger! I’ve enjoyed the past few weeks doing workshops and classes on Dreaming Big, entrepreneurship, creative careers like acting, filmmaking and the arts to inspire kids and youth to open their hearts to the kind of dreams they can delve into even right where they are – they don’t have to wait till they’re adults to dream and live big.
.
The kids I’ve worked with have been writing scripts and filming their ideas, coming up with business ideas, dreaming up careers they’re passionate about and it’s so awesome to see how excited they get hearing stories of people who dream big, invent new creations and break open paths that are beyond what they’ve seen before.
.
The same goes for us all – dare to dream beyond what’s normal and expected – you may be someone who blazes a trail that others are waiting to walk on to reach their unique calling. Dream, live and love for a greater purpose and inspire those young and more seasoned around you to do so as well!

The book I’m reading to the kids in this pic is Bessie Queen of the Sky by Queen Girls Publishing – they’re turning stories of real bold women into fairy tales. They recently came out with new books in their series – check out QueenGirlsPublications.com to preorder their new collection!

Want me to come out to speak to a group about entrepreneurship, dreams, arts and embracing your creativity? Contact me by clicking here.

4-Year-Old President Austin Feeds the Homeless and Inspires Us to Show Love

I love how this caped 4-year-old who calls himself President Austin cares for the homeless in his town by giving out meals. He tells everyone “Remember to show love,” and it’s such a heartwarming reminder that doing good can change the world one person at a time. Now Burger King and donations are helping him show even more love. Whoever you are take a look at the people around you and how you can help be a light of love.
