Teen Entrepreneurs Suit Up for NFTE’s Dare to Dream Gala

nftegalanftesuitupTeens from all over the country will be showcasing their businesses this April at the NFTE Dare to Dream Gala in Washington DC. Students who have developed their businesses through the NFTE program will be able to network with business professionals and sell some of the products they’ve dreamed up. Check out the video below from a past Dare to Dream Gala where students talk about their businesses.

Some of the businesses featured in the video include STEP UP Dance by Harry, a dancer and high school student who provides unique dance routine lessons that combine various styles from hip hop, pop ‘n lock, step dance and reggae, (click here to read more about Harry). Another business is With Thy Hands Portraits which was started by Rayneese, a talented young artist who creates realistic hand-drawn portraits (click here to read more about Rayneese).

Rayneese says of her portraiture business: “I started this in high school- I went to an art high school. So with that and entrepreneurship it helped me to realize that, ok I have a talent for drawing so why not cash in on it. Even though I’m very passionate about my artwork I still have to be rational and see I still have to eat, so you’ve got to have that business sense in order to succeed and get your work out there.”

Rising High & Staying Grounded: Interview with Actor Jason Dolley

jasondolleytinterviewbanner

18-year-old Jason Dolley started following his dream of becoming an actor at a young age when he entered a school talent show. By 11-years-old he had made his film debut as the lead role in the award-winning short film “Chasing Daylight”. He later went in to star on major shows like Mel Gibson’s ABC comedy series “Complete Savages,” and made us laugh with his fun-loving character ‘Newt Livingston’ in Disney Channel’s original series “Cory in the House,” alongside Kyle Massey and Madison Pettis, as well as a number of other shows and films.

goodluckcharliejasondolleyNow Jason is starring as PJ Duncan, older brother to baby Charlie in the Disney Channel Original Series “Good Luck Charlie” that premiered April 4. The series is about the Duncan family, who are still getting used to the “surprise” birth of their fourth child, Charlotte “Charlie” Duncan.

When their parents return to work, they ask their three older children—teenagers Teddy (played by Bridgit Mendler) and PJ (Jason’s role), and their ten-year-old brother, Gabe (Bradley Steven Perry)— for help raising their little sister. Teddy starts filming videos giving advice to Charlie about their life at home to give to her when she gets older and when Teddy leaves for college. The show definitely looks funny and like something the whole family would love. (Click here to watch the official preview video for the show and visit the show’s official website for more info and fun features.)

Dreamer ENT’s media partner the Valder Beebe Show chatted with Jason about his previous role on “Cory in the House” and new role on “Good Luck Charlie,” as well as how he stays grounded in his rising career.

Editor’s Journal: My Entrepreneurship Journey

editorsdeskjournalrussellsimmonspicHey Everyone,

This is Julene, editor of DreamerENT.com. A couple of weeks back I was able to share some entrepreneurship tips with Sunkissed Girlz, a fun site that features everything from fashion and beauty tips to advice about things young people face today. I started my own artistic businesses as a kid and later took part in a NFTE business camp as a teen that helped me to take my business more seriously. I wanted to share with other young people that you too can start a business doing something you love. Here’s part of what I shared on the site:

I was bitten by the business bug at a young age, when in elementary and middle school I started selling homemade greeting cards, magazines, calendars and other crafts to friends and family. It was fun to share my artwork and writing with others and do something I loved in exchange for some spending money. I learned about money management, finding customers and other things that most people might not learn until they are older – starting young definitely gives you a jumpstart on your dreams!

Being an entrepreneur also taught me how to interact better with others – I was a really shy little girl, but the process of selling my own products helped me be more confident in myself.

If you’re interested in starting your own business, here are some tips to get you started: (Click below to read the rest of this post on SunkisedGirlz.com)
