Zoe’s Dolls: Zoe Overcomes Bullying and Empowers Girls To Love the Skin They’re In

zoesdollsnickawardsI love what Zoe Terry is doing to help instill confidence and self-love in girls. Her organization Zoe’s dolls gives African American dolls to children who may not have had a doll that looked like them. Zoe realized the importance of representation after she was bullied and she wanted to make sure other girls could stand tall and be proud in their complexion. Zoe has been featured in numerous outlets including Good Morning America and TED Talks.

Brainstorm: What’s a need in the community that you’re passionate about? How can you start your own organization or start collecting items to help others?

Today was beyond unbelievable! We kicked off our Black History Month Doll Giveaways. We started it in a BIG way! Good Morning America has came to film the Zoe’s Dolls Movement. It started out at my school where they filmed me going to class and hanging with some of my friends. They also filmed the awesome Karen Davis Athanassiadis and all the work she has done with me. Next stop was off to the doll giveaway with Me and my girls Essence and Zion to bring smiles to some girls’ faces! I will be in the studio live with Good Morning America in NY this month! I am beyond excited! @hasbro thank you for being a huge part of this! @goodmorningamerica thank you for thinking my vision is worth sharing! Thank you @mdcps_d2 for always supporting the mission from the start! Thank you @miami_country_day_school for being the best school ever! #zoesdolls #hasbro #goodmorningamerica #blackgirlmagic @bosszoe11
