Creative Career Spotlight: Music Production with TRAKGIRL Who Makes a Mark in the Industry and Empowers Women Producers

Music production is a creative career you can explore if you have a love for music and inspiring culture. Music producers help come up with the beat or background music of a track and help develop the sound and elements of a song. Shakari “TRAKGIRL” Boles, is a Virginia producer who started as a teen inspired by Missy Elliott and Pharell and now she’s producing music for so many artists today and making waves in the industry. She is part of the Pay Us Today movement to help educate other producers and artists about the importance of creatives being compensated for their work.

If you want to try out music production you can start exploring on computer software like FL Studio, Logic or Ableton. There are so many tutorials on Youtube that can help you get started to learn the programs and try your hand at different techniques of beat-making and producing songs. Listen to various styles of music throughout the years and focus on the background production to get inspired and find your own sound.
